The Rutgers football team practiced under the lights in Rutgers Stadium for the first time this season, hoping to get kids ready for the night game Thursday against Norfolk State.
Harrison back at practice
Sophomore Mark Harrison, who injured his head in the team’s first scrimmage of camp, returned to practice tonight for the first time and was full-go in all activities.
“I feel great,” Harrison said. “I feel really good. I’m excited to play. … I just had to wait for a couple of symptoms to go down, but I’m back now, ready to go.”
Harrison is listed as the starter opposite Mohamed Sanu at wide receiver on the depth chart, replacing the injured Tim Wright.
“[Tim Wright] is always going to be in my heart,” Wright said. “You might see me with a wrist band that says five on it. I’m going to represent Timmy.”

Young might miss opener
At home dealing with personal issues, senior tailback Kordell Young has not practiced for more than a week with the Scarlet Knights and there is a chance he won’t be available to play Thursday night, Schiano said.
Schiano said that juniors Mason Robinson and Joe Martinek will likely replace him in a third-down capacity if he doesn’t make it.
The cannon returns
The cannon, not inside the stadium last year after the expansion, is set to return to the field and be on the sidelines in the north-west corner of the end zone where the student section used to be.
“We’re going to blast away,” Schiano said.
The chopping wood in the north-east corner of the end zone will be back as well, continuing the pregame axe tradition.
Monday night lights
The Scarlet Knights practiced under the lights to prepare for a night game Thursday.
“It’s just a little different [at night],” Schiano said. “The ball looks a little different up there in the dark sky.”
